A properly drafted Power of Attorney is a critical part of your estate plan. It can save you and your family from a time-consuming and expensive court proceeding called a guardianship. It is a vital tool in assuring you are protected in the event of illness, injury or unexpected unavailability. New York State recently enacted a law that made substantial changes to existing Powers of Attorney. While Powers of Attorney properly drafted and executed before June 13, 2021 remain valid, there may be circumstances where it makes sense for you to execute new documents.

Join Brian L. Miller, Esq., to learn more about the new law governing Powers of Attorney and understand how it may impact your estate planning. If you have any questions about this series, please contact [email protected].
