On July 10, 2020, the New York State Department of Health Commissioner announced that nursing homes and long-term care facilities will be allowed limited visitation for facilities that have been without COVID-19 for at least twenty-eight (28) days.

Precautions must still be taken.  Residents are only allowed no more than two visitors at a time; at least one of those visitors must be at least 18 years old or older.  Visitors must undergo temperature checks, wear face coverings, and socially distance themselves during their visit with residents.

Time slots will be limited as only 10% of the residents may have visitors at a time.

Though the spread of COVID-19 continues in certain states, this is encouraging news in New York as nursing homes and long-term facilities have not allowed visitation with residents since March 13, 2020.  Families can now look forward to a reunion in facilities that have been free of the virus for the above time frame.
